Now I don’t know if this is a big deal for other people but I just checked my stats after posting a weird limerick I just wrote here but I saw a crazy figure. This figure is so mind boggling that I had to share it with people. I had 101 views on my blog today.
Do you know how crazy it is to see that?! 101 views?! I am used to seeing anywhere between 15-30 on a good day! I have had more views lately but that I attribute to me commenting more and reading more blogs, but this is unprecedented! Thanks to the new stat viewer that WordPress introduced I can see that the views have come most likely from one person looking at a whole load of posts. They went through my archive, which makes me wonder if they have read everything I have posted online all in one go. Look.
Here is the part that is really freaking me out right now. The majority of these views from one single person looking at what I can assume to be my entire history of posts on my blog, is from the UK. For those who don’t know I am from England and this is freaking me out.
I opened up and showed someone my blog yesterday, a friend of mine who knew of its existence, but not what I wrote on here. I showed her some of the posts through the app on my phone. I wanted her to read some of it, but I did not want to give her the URL. Something was holding me back, something was stopping me from giving it to her. The same thing that stopped me giving it to a few other people. I did not want the questions and the anonymity provided by this blog made it feel safe to me. I intend to ask her in the morning if she has searched for my blog through clues and questions I answered to find it. She is a smart girl, I wouldn’t put it past her. Coincidentally someone searched for “My Mental Stream” and I know one person who does that, but the girl is smart and I am the top response if you Google those exact words. Also another friend (PR girl) knew about this blog, and I told her that I had written about her and she may have gone and read a great deal, but I don’t think it is her. Whoever it was who read this, please comment or contact me telling me who you are. This is kind of freaking me out a little. As said previously I will be sending a few messages in the morning.
Please, if you read this tell me who you are, this is going to massively play on my mind.

Well,I can’t talk of other visitors, but I can tell you how I found you. I often go to the “reader” part of WordPress’ service. After reading those that I subscribed to, I’ll either put in a keyword (“history” is usually my drug of choice). If I still want to read some more, I’ll click on “freshly pressed” or “recommended”. Today, I found you when I clicked on Freshly Pressed, and then under “writing”.
Does that ease your mind?
Sorry if I scare you
Thank You TK. I appreciate you commenting and explaining how you found me. You are Canadian I am guessing my the little Gravatar photo you posted?? If so I think you are not the scary person I am hunting for, but thank you none the less for your input!
I had that happen to me too – just 4 days ago I had over 200 views on a post I wrote about Palisades Amusement Park – it was a photo I borrowed from Facebook. I have no clue how I got so many hits.
Damn, 200 views would have caused me to seriously start asking some questions urgently. Right now I am suppressing the urge as it is nearly 1am here and that is just rude to wake people up when they have work in the morning. Out of curiosity, how did you find this post/me?
I found you on freshly pressed, which I scan daily for new and interesting blogs. An avid reader, its kinda fun to see how others view the world and their thoughts on blogging and creative writing. As for this post, I can assure you, there have been days, when I have seen my views skyrocket, and usually its to do with a photograph or image. Once, one of the pics from a story I did, was used by yahoo news, and well, the views I got for that day was a staggering 978. Now, I was used to about 40 at the time, so that totally blew my mind and I had to hunt down why it was happening, on just one story post. I know get hits from over 85 countries worldwide, most from the US, even though I am Australian.
Thank you for your response Charlotte. I tend to get most of my views from the US or the UK and I am British. I get the impression WordPress’s largest audience is there. Is being put on freshly pressed normal? Do all blogs get put through there like a sorting system?
!!! This is exactly what happened to me a week (or so) ago!! Someone from the UK gave me 100 views within apparently 3 hours or so. That person apparently read my entire blog – and I do not know who it was either. But I can tell you it made me feel weird too. Wasn’t sure if I should be flattered or shocked… because… who was that? and WHY did that person read everything?
I was relieved though to see it was someone from the UK – if it had been someone from Germany it would have freaked me out so bad – because of anonymity issues etc. That being said I can’t really help you or offer any advice :/ Maybe that even was the same person? lol…
I did think of the post you wrote Juliet! The fact the views are from my home country is what has caught me off guard and freaked me out a little. It would be highly amusing if it was the same person! I am more apprehensive than flattered or shocked. But I guess I will just have to get over it.
